I just came across this over at WhiteHouse.org. I thought it was funny, so I decided to share it.
Interesting Stuff
After being envious of Todd Dominey’s “Enjoying” sidebar for quite some time, I decided to do some messing around to get my own as well. I find that I often come across cool things on the ’Net, but they aren’t worth actually writing about. This will solve that problem. You can pull the RSS feed into your news reader, if you’d like.
My Stapler! No Touchie!
If you’ve never seen Office Space, you need to stop what you’re doing, whatever it is, and rent it immediately. It really should own it’s own spot in your movie collection. For those who have seen it before, you’ll know who Milton is. (Here’s a soundboard just for fun.) If you work in an office, you’ll be able to appreciate this movie. One of the supporting characters is a poor guy named Milton Waddams. His office keeps getting moved around, until he eventually ends up in the basement.
View Your Site on OSX and Safari
I came across a website that shows you what your website looks like in Safari 1.1 under Mac OS X 10.3. I think it’s awfully amazing myself. This will definitely help me with some of my Mac development. I never realized how good the web looks on Mac OS X. It’s so much different than on Mac OS 9. Mac OS 9 looks disgusting compared to Windows XP, and XP looks bad compared to OSX. Hat tip: Taylor McKnight.
Better Living Through Web Standards
Absolutely beautiful! Read this.
Winamp 5 Skins
Well, I changed my mind about downloading Winamp 5. I downloaded Winamp 5.0rc8 today, and began toying around with it. In my previous Winamp 5 post, I talked about how Winamp 2 was so much faster, but Winamp 3 had so much more potential. I will now say that Winamp 5 is a beautiful cross between the two, keeping the best things from Winamp 3, and adding them to Winamp 2 to create a super-fast, magnificent audio player that supports the skins from both earlier versions!
What In The World Is “Skyzyx”?
A guy named David emailed me today with a question. “How do you pronounce ‘Skyzyx’?” The thought had never occurred to me before. I guess it should have. It’s not a name or a word of any sort, it’s just a name of my own creation. I came up with it back in 1992. I was in eighth grade, and I decided to create a word out of all of the “cool” looking letters of the alphabet. After a few tries, “Skyzyx” was the polished word.
New CSS Resources
I’ve introduced a new section of my website called “Resources”, where I will keep track of excellent articles on XHTML, CSS, web standards, accessibility, and other articles that are important for web designers/developers to keep handy. This section began as part of the “Articles” section, then branched off into it’s own “Propaganda” section, before becoming “Resources”. The most usable part of this section (in my opinion) is the CSS Methods, Techniques, and Hacks area. Many of these are very popularly used Hacks/Methods/etc.
Multiple Versions of Internet Explorer
Ethan Marcotte (aka Sidesh0w has posted a link to a tutorial on how to run Internet Explorer 5.01, 5.5, and 6.0 under Windows XP! I’ve tried it, and it works! To save some people the hassle, I’ve gone ahead and zipped each stand-alone installation and made them available for download. I’ve tested them on Windows 2000 and XP. You’d just need to upgrade your Windows 2000 installation with Internet Explorer 6.0, then download and unzip these files wherever you want (I put them in my Internet Explorer folder, myself).
Rock The Vote
I just came across a link over at What Do I Know entitled Wesley Clark talks to the Starbucks generation (genius). If there’s any one candidate that I will never vote for, it would be him. Issue 1: Iraq War; Although I don’t particularly like how everything was gone about in regards to how the war came about, I am glad that we were able to successfully remove Saddam from power for the sake of the people there. I only wish that we would have gone there for the sake of the people.
