I’ve added many, many more articles to the “Articles” section. I have found them all useful, and I think you will too. I’ve also added more scripts (with documentation) to the “Scripts” section. I’ve still got more to go. Skyzyx.com now has what are called “Permalinks” to each post in the news section. This way, you can link directly to any post on this site. Hopefully this will get my site into the limelight of web standards sites.
XHTML 2 And You!
I’m adding a new article to the “Articles” section of this site. This article from Zeldman.com discusses XHTML 2’s few benefits and many pitfalls. This [switching to XHTML 2] would be a big deal if everyone in the web business was itching to use XHTML 2. But aside from a few academics and XML geeks, nobody we know is in a hurry to use an unfinished, unsupported markup spec that abandons familiar methods to achieve unknown benefits. Web designers have been slow to adopt even technologies that provide clear benefits and are known to work well, like CSS1.
Screw Compliance?
I posted on Coding Forums asking to get some critiquing on a few of my site designs. I’m working towards standards-compliance, both in syntax and structure, and I think I’ve come a long way over the last few months. I received a couple of posts in response that seemed like they were straight out of the dark ages of web design. I just cringed when he began talking about ImageReady splices. Here are his two posts (edited for spelling and grammar):
Mozilla's Recent Releases
Mozilla has released two new versions of their software. The Mozilla “Application Suite” is now at version 1.4 Beta, while the latest stable release is still 1.3.1. Mozilla has also released the first official version of … (wait for it) … Mozilla Firebird™! The new release is version 0.6. Mozilla Firebird™ is going to be integrated into the full-scale Mozilla project by version 1.5, as the Mozilla Project is going to be “decentralized”, if you will. For those interested (and who don’t already know the URL’s), you can check out Mozilla’s Roadmap and Mozilla’s Branding Strategy.
Video Game Updates
During my module on After Effects, I ended up playing ALOT of Zelda: Wind Waker. Right now, I’m in “Publication and Design”, and I haven’t really had alot of time to play. At this point, I just have to find the rest of the heart pieces, find the TriForce maps so I can find the shards, and then go beat the crap outta Ganon. I beat Final Fantasy Tactics a few weeks ago. I hate Delita. Even though he’s supposed to be your best friend, don’t trust him.
More Updates
I’ve erased the Skyzyx.com-formatted versions of the articles that were posted. Now, I’ve linked to them in order to avoid any type of copyright infringement issues. I still think they look better with my formatting though… I’ve added the About Me page, which is basically a resume, except it’s in a story format and is written in more of a conversational style as opposed to a dull resume/interview/say-the-right-thing-if-you-want-this-job style. Realizing that the site really doesn’t look that great at 800x600, I added a button that will toggle the navigation sidebar on/off.
The Web Standards Project, Animated GIF
I was browsing the internet the other day looking at a variety of articles written by Jeffrey Zeldman. I happened to come across an article at The Noodle Incident, where I found this GIF. I got to the bottom of the article, and came across this GIF. Ahhh, web standards…
A New Path For Mozilla
Over the weekend, I came across news about Mozilla’s new roadmap laying out the plans for the future. MozillaZine had something to say about it here.
Zelda: Wind Waker and Final Fantasy Tactics
I went down to GameStop to pick up my pre-ordered copy of “The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker” last night. I’d already been playing the GameCube version of “Ocarina of Time” for the last month or so, and love it! Anyways, I started playing it, and the game is fantastic. It looks like you’re playing a cartoon… smoothe as all-heck. At first, I thought it wouldn’t be as challenging as Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask, but so far it has turned out to be a fantastic game.
Standards-Compliant Browsers
I’ve just finished up the browser downloads page. It covers every browser I could think of within the realm of Gecko, KHTML, Internet Explorer, and Opera technologies. You can check it now, if you wish.
